I’ve had a few people say recently that the three Friday Fuel questions should become a book of their own.
Maybe one day.
But it did get me thinking about this: making time to reflect is hard enough. Making that reflection useful is another thing altogether.
It’s easy to finally get five quiet minutes and then have no idea what to do with them. We replay the week. We think about what annoyed us. We make a mental to-do list. And then the moment is gone.
Good reflection asks better questions.
Questions that help you notice progress you might otherwise miss. Questions that challenge the story you’ve been telling yourself. Questions that create a little distance between what happened and what you decide it means.
This weekend, try these:
1. What progress have I made recently that I’m not giving myself enough credit for?
2. What story am I currently telling myself about my career, and what if that story isn’t completely true?
3. What would a meaningful next step look like if progress didn’t have to be dramatic?
You don’t need an hour, a retreat or the perfect quiet space.
Sometimes ten honest minutes and the right question is enough to change what you see.
Have a great weekend.
Michelle
