Somewhere in the middle of January, the noise returns.
The emails start ramping up. The calendar is filling. The “shoulds” start creeping back in. And if you’re not careful, you can find yourself doing the same thing you did last year… just faster.
So, here’s a gentler approach for this week:
Before you set goals…
listen to your energy.
Because your energy is honest.
It’s giving you real-time feedback about what’s working, what’s draining you,
what you’re forcing, and what you’re actually built for.
Notice it all - where you feel heavy, resentful, stretched thin… and telling the truth about it.
Notice also what lights you up – when you’ve had a great day and feeling proud or fulfilled…what gave this to you?
Energy doesn’t just show up when life
is easy.
Sometimes it shows up when you’re doing something meaningful.
Sometimes it disappears when you’re doing something “successful” that isn’t
aligned.
So, if you’re in reset mode this month,
here’s a question:
Where is my energy leaking… and where is it quietly returning?
The Gentle Energy Map
Drains
What reliably drains you, even when you’re good at it.
Fuels
What gives energy back, even if it’s small.
Neutral
Things that are fine, but don’t need to take centre stage.
Then ask yourself:
- What drains me even when it looks successful?
- What fuels me that I’ve been calling “not productive”?
- Where am I over-functioning?
- What’s one leak I could patch this month?
This isn’t about becoming “high energy” all the time.
It’s about honestly noticing.
And then making one kind adjustment.
