What did you make easier for your team this week - and what may you have made harder without even realising?
Leadership is more than what you delivered, decided, or pushed forward this week. It is about the environment people experienced around you.
Did your presence create clarity or confusion?
Did your questions open up thinking or shut it down?
Did your way of leading build confidence, ownership, and contribution - or more reliance on you?
Most leaders do not intentionally create dependency, silence, or hesitation in others. But under pressure, it can happen. We move too quickly. We answer too fast. We take things back. We solve what others could have worked through. We unintentionally train the team to bring us problems rather than build their own judgement.
That is why a Friday pause matters.
Not to judge yourself harshly.
But to notice your impact more clearly.
Leadership leaves clues.
In who spoke up.
In who held back.
In what moved without you.
In what stalled waiting for you.
Before you finish the week, take five quiet minutes and reflect:
- Where this week did my leadership create more clarity, confidence, or momentum for others?
- Where might I have overhelped, overdirected, or stepped in too quickly?
- What is one conversation, question, or ownership shift I can make next week to help someone else grow?
Sometimes the most powerful leadership move is not doing more.
It is creating the conditions for others to do more of what they are capable of.
Have a lovely weekend.
Michelle
