I’m so often amazed at how often leadership comes back to the earliest examples we experienced.
Before we ever had a title or a team, someone showed us what leadership looked like, through tone, standards, kindness, conflict, consistency, or the lack of it. And whether we realise it or not, those early lessons still shape how we show up today.
This week, instead of chasing more, take five minutes to reflect on your leadership impact. Because you’re always modelling something, even in the small moments. How you handle pressure. How you listen. How you make decisions. How you speak about people when they’re not in the room. How you respond when things go wrong.
And here’s the bit leaders often miss: you may never fully know the impact you have. But you can choose the kind of impact you intend to have by getting clear on what you’re teaching through your behaviour.
So before you press close on the week, pause and ask yourself:
- Who were your first leaders, and what did they teach you?
- What are you modelling right now?
- What do you hope people feel after being led by you?
Let those answers shape how you lead next week.
Have a lovely weekend.
